PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY
Connecticut Medical Insurance Company (CMIC)
The Company’s mission statement: "To provide competitively priced,
service-oriented, financially strong, long-term sources of insurance products
and services to CMIC members."
CMIC was organized and capitalized in 1984 by the physicians of Connecticut
to provide a strong, stable source of professional liability insurance so that
the state’s physicians would not be subject to the whims of outside commercial
insurers. It is a tribute to physicians’ support and loyalty that CMIC has
become the major physicians’ insurer in the state. While companies like CNA, St.
Paul, PHICO, MIIX and AHI/SCPIE have come and gone, CMIC is as committed today
as it was in 1984 to provide the best coverage available to the state’s medical
care community.
CMIC is a mutual company-owned by its policyholders whose primary purpose is
to serve the needs of its Connecticut physicians. CMIC sets rates that are
necessary to pay losses, not to make a profit or pay dividends to stockholders.
CMIC’s claims and policyholder services are unsurpassed. CMIC’s business focus
is clear to meet the insurance needs of Connecticut physicians.
